Blue Canoe

I haven't been able to get much time to paint in the last few days because my husband had a shoulder replaced. His surgery was last Thursday. He's doing very well, back on his feet, without much to do.
I painted this in short spurts over the past days. It's from the canoe trip on the Indian River. That dock was the ricketiest (is that a word) thing we ever saw. We just laughed as we approached it. I really think this photo looks better than the actual painting. It wasn't very satisfying, too tight and took way to long to finish.

This was our target, the rainbow sail.

Heading for home.

Lola

This is my daughters other dog, Harley. I call her Lola. She's a beautiful gentle dog. I'm thinking dogs are really fun to paint. I'll have to find some more of them.

Sunset Marsh

The last three paintings have been my most difficult yet. There's a lot more information in them than just a single jar of flowers. I've been using very small brushes which is new for me. I thought in the past that no.6 or 8 brushes were my small brushes. I have things to learn.
I like this painting. It's from photos I took on the camping trip a week ago .I like the foreground a lot. The reeds have a lot to be desired. I needed an even smaller brush, maybe a striper, and more deliberate strokes. The on line picture has more light than the painting which is closer to nightfall.

My Garden (End of Summer)

Hard to believe this is my 51st post. When I started in May I didn't think I would last a month. I must say I am happy with myself.-the huge procrastinator- the big painting quitter. No follow through Fletcher. Also hard to believe summer is ending. Almost time to tear it down. Can't wait. I love this painting.

Beach Hiker

Yet another first. A successful landscape with a human in it.This is a picture of my husband walking ahead of me on our three mile hike along the beach on Duncan Bay last week. As usual, I am trailing behind, shooting pics and getting up close with wildflowers. I'm really happy with this one. My husband had a bright turquoise shirt on. I just wish I could figure out how to mix that color. Any suggestions??

Cheboygan State Park

We just got back from a lovely week of camping at Cheboygan, Michigan. I  painted everyday. This was the second painting but I needed to finish it at home. The weather was variable. Huge clouds with intermittent sun. I think  this is the third time I've ever painted clouds and I really like these a lot. Two paintings got wiped. Friday, I tried to paint people on the beach. It was a laughable disaster.

Indian River Lilly

I've been looking at water lilies a lot lately. Michigan has them everywhere. Today I got to float through some in a canoe. I took pics to paint from.

Duncan Bay

I went to the beach today and painted this in a driving wind, sitting on the ground. Not such a great day but at least it's not an all green landscape. The horizon line was straight until I cropped it with my phone. Oops. Well I like it and had fun painting it---that's what counts.

Up the Road

This is the reworked version of the "Up the Road" painting.  I'm trying to experiment with colors so my paintings won't be so green. I also had another aha moment when I read Carol Marine's blog a few days ago. She stated: in the distance, the lights get darker and  the darks get lighter. How do I not know that? I think this version is much better. Don't you?

This field is on the road to my house.I took a pic with my cell phone and painted it as soon as I got home. I'm going to be painting outside this week. I hope I can find some interesting landscapes.

Sad Bananas

Know idea why I picked purple for this background. When I finished, I disliked this so much I painted another one with completely different colors. That one was so bad I wiped it off. No sense waisting canvas. I don't think I'll be doing bananas again soon.
Another problem with this painting, it's overworked. I tend to do this and I'm trying to fight it. My aim is to get looser with the paint . I don't mind posting my mistakes. This is all about learning to paint, develop a work ethic and, oh yea, blog. I finally figured out how to put a little statement on and remove the Google linked pic. I'm getting a lot better at navigating through the whole blogger dashboard. I hope to keep making some improvements to this site.

Dinner

Still without Internet access. I find it really hard to post this from my cell. But if you know that lots of people my age don't even use a cell phone, you'd say way to go girl.
This was our dinner last night. All from my garden. I made quiche out of it . Yum.

Jammed in a Glass

My Internet is down so I photographed and am posting this with my phone. This is the biggest painting I've done since I started this project in May. It's 14x11 . I had a really good time and finish in a few hours.

Summer Color

I think these just scream late summer. I have two big stands of them in the garden. So many color combos on one plant.
